Renewable energy — Argumentative essay

It is an well-known fact that global warming has become a serious problem worldwide. Emission of carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, is one of the reasons for the problem. What’s more? The production of carbon dioxide is mainly due to the consumption of fossil fuels. In order to reduce the reliance on fossil fuels, the world is using more renewable energy. Whether renewable energy will be replaced by fossil fuels is certainly a controversial issue. Despite some people argued that fossil fuels is better than renewable energy that burning coal provide a constant supply of energy and the cost is much cheaper. In my opinion, fossil fuels will never replace renewable energy. The following essay will illustrate two of the prime reasons of this.

One point which I consider to be definitely key is that the government of both developing countries and developed countries have to bear responsibility for minimizing the release of greenhouse gases as to protect the world and provide a better environment for the next generations. When renewable energy is converted to electric energy, it will not produce any harmful products, like carbon dioxide and sulphur dioxide. It is reasonable that developing countries have to burn more coal to gain more energy that establishes their foundation and to develop their countries. However, after the countries have been developed, the demand of the fossil fuels will no longer exists.

In addition, fossil fuels are non-renewable energy. In the long term, there will come a day that running out of fossil fuels while renewable energy will still providing energy as it is inexhaustible.

Some people may argue that the cost of the equipment to obtain renewable energy is expensive. In the fullness of time, the technology will be advanced and the cost will be minimized as more and more countries are having those equipment as they can sell the renewable energy to the countries nearby. Hence, the nearby countries will not require to build up the facilities.

In conclusion, in the long run and based on the political responsibility, renewable energy will never be substituted by fossil fuels.

Reflective journal 3

I was disappointed that I always make silly mistake in my tests. For instance, in the biology test, the question asked for an answer other than lipid, and I have written down lipid as answer. How mindless I am? Another example is I often misspell some word, like agreement and nucleophilic. I am such an idiot that spelled “agreement” wrongly to “argreement” and “nucleophilic” to “neucleophilic”. I couldn’t understand why am I making those simple mistakes. And I should be more careful in spelling. However, by making those foolish error, it makes me more aware of the spelling. And I swear that I would be more focus on spelling and try not to make these mistakes again.

Health

Health is not just consisting physical and mental health, but also the social health. In my country—Hong Kong, a fast-paced country, everyone is concerning about efficiency. They try their best in maximising the spending time in each task or else they will be end up in working overtime and having less time in their social life, causing them work-life imbalance. When the over-workload gave rise to the exhaustion of worker, the worker cannot relax during their insufficient spare time, and they will have a low efficiency in work and have to work overtime – a vicious circle. In order to ensure there enough spare time for people, the government should set up a standard working hours. The standard working hours can guarantee there are sufficient recreation time for people to associate with friends, and family. As their work-life is balance, they are getting healthier in the aspect of social health.

Reflection journal 2

I was shocked in physic lesson this week. In my country, each maths and physic questions must have a fixed answer, whether is right or not. However, during the physics lesson, the teacher has gave us some practices question to complete. And when I spotted out there were a mistake, the teacher simply said ‘It is just practice. The answers are not important.’ And I was totally shocked with this teaching method. As physic is a subject from natural science, it is all about an objective fact. There is no grey area in the answers and student is my country are expected to get the answer in order to improve ourselves by knowing the mistake that we have made. And I cannot believe that we have done a question without a known answer.
